Leadership Team Bios
kenolisa 5 Kenolisa Onwueme: Keno completed medical and graduate training at Cornell University. He went on to an Internal Medicine residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital where he co-founded Obala. Keno is currently a fellow in the gastroenterology division at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He brings a versatile analytical skill-set to tackle health care delivery issues in resource limited settings. His prior international experience includes work in South Africa, Nigeria and the South Pacific. He is an avid soccer player, though wear and tear of old age has reduced his time spent as a mid-fielder.
kenolisa 5 Olanrewaju Soremekun: Olanrewaju completed his primary and secondary education in Lagos before moving to the United States.  He completed a medical degree and masters in business administration at Columbia University.  Olan then continued as a Clinical Fellow at Harvard Medical School where he completed his Emergency Medicine residency.  He is currently an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and practices at the Hospital of University of Pennsylvania.  His administrative and research interests focus on the design of emergency departments and emergency systems.  In addition to his clinical experience, Olanrewaju has prior management experience in the pharmaceutical industry where he worked as a Manager in business development, strategic planning, and portfolio risk assessment.
kenolisa 5 Seth Nemeroff:  A financial manager with more than 15 years experience in the capital markets, Seth applies his expertise as an equities and commodities trader to initiatives at a number of non-profit organizations. He now concentrates on social entrepreneurship with a focus on health-care delivery and micro-finance.
kenolisa 5 Malije Onwueme: Malije is a co-founder of Obala.  She completed a doctorate in dental surgery degree at University of Michigan and thereafter, a general practice residency in New York.  She practices in the Washington DC metro area. Her passion for global health is evidenced by her extensive professional international experience including work in Nairobi, Kenya and the Townships of Diepsloot and Mamelodi in South Africa.
kenolisa 5 Eileen Buckle: Eileen graduated with her doctorate in dental surgery from the University of Michigan and went on to complete advanced training in Pediatric Dentistry at Howard University. Her international experience includes health related outreach programs in Ghana and Jamaica.
kenolisa 5 Kathy Tignor:  With years of management experience at Wall Street firms, Kathy brings human resource planning and expertise to Obala. As Development Director she manages fundraising, event planning and corporate outreach for the organization.
